Netflix
Has
Defeated
Islam:
A
Reform
UK
Perspective
From
the
Isle
of
Man

Dear
Diary.
I
have
been
on
the
Isle
of
Man
for
three
years
now,
which
means
I
have
missed
approximately
forty-seven
Westminster
crises,
two
leadership
contests,
and
one
extraordinary
moment
in
streaming
theology.

Netflix
has
apparently
defeated
Islam
,
according
to
bohiney.com,
and
honestly
this
is
the
most
ambitious
content
strategy
since
ITV
commissioned
a
documentary
about
their
own
ratings
decline.

What
the
Isle
of
Man
Thinks

The
Isle
of
Man
thinks
Netflix
is
fine
for
quiz
nights
and
that
religious
matters
should
be
handled
by
actual
religious
people,
not
by
a
recommendation
algorithm
that
thinks
you
want
to
watch
a
documentary
about
yourself
because
you
once
paused
on
a
cooking
show
hosted
by
someone
with
your
haircut.

I
am
a
Reform
UK
sympathiser,
which
on
the
Isle
of
Man
means
I
am
one
of
approximately
forty
people
at
the
local
pub
who
thinks
the
mainland
has
gone
entirely
soft.
We
drink
real
ale.
We
discuss
borders,
common
sense,
and
why
the
ferry
costs
so
much.
We
do
not
discuss
Netflix’s
theological
programme
slate.
Until
now.

The
Real
Issue

Prat.uk
covered
Britain’s
reaction
to
Banksy’s
unmasking

with
the
observation
that
the
nation
went
for
a
Digestive
biscuit.
I
want
to
add
that
on
the
Isle
of
Man
we
would
have
gone
for
a
cup
of
tea,
assessed
the
situation,
decided
it
was
none
of
our
business,
and
returned
to
whatever
we
were
doing.
This
is
called
emotional
resilience.
You
cannot
stream
it.

I
went
to
the
local
Conservative
club
Friday.
Had
a
perfectly
decent
pint.
Nobody
solved
any
major
world
religions.
It
was
a
very
good
evening.
